Think Small: Quince

Quince

Think small is where RLSD takes a look at some of the companies around the world that we think are doing the right thing with leather. This is a greenwashing free zone – no matter what they produce, sustainability is at the heart of what they do.

What makes your company different?

Quince started when we brought our work home. We built careers working for high-end brands, but investing in luxury clothing, jewellery and home goods for ourselves was a rare treat. So, we built our own brand—committed to making exceptionally high-quality essentials at a price within reach. Because everyone deserves to fill their life with the finer things.

Why is leather so important to you and what other materials do you use?

The buttery soft, designer-level quality isn’t the only thing you can feel good about. Quince leather is:

  • Made in Sedex or BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) certified factories helping to improve working conditions
  • Made in tanneries certified by Leather Working Group to minimize environmental impact and highlight unique leather characteristics without heavy use of chemicals
  • Sourced to prevent unused hides from becoming unnecessary waste

What is the signature product?

Meet our Italian Leather Convertible Crescent Handwoven Crossbody. Handwoven using 100% top-grain Italian leather, this luxe carry-all features two detachable straps so you can style it over your shoulder or as a classic crossbody. The leather used for this bag is tanned in a LWG (Leather Working Group) certified tannery and it is produced in Sedex certified factories which aims to improve working conditions throughout the supply chain.

What do Quince say?

We value transparency. We’re open and honest about the materials in our products, how they’re manufactured and how they’re priced. Honesty is always our policy.

What does RLSD say?

Sustainability and the fair treatment of workers are at the heart of everything Quince do. We think this company proves that doing things right doesn’t necessarily mean higher prices.
