The campaign trail to recruit students to enter the 2021 Student Design Competition in Taiwan has begun.
The Taiwan campaign tour to promote the 2021 Student Design Competition, received great feedback from faculty and students alike. It visited seven universities in Taiwan covering courses from fashion design to product design. More visits are planned.
“In the process, we can truly feel how students are curious and interested in leather,” says executive producer Ben Chiu about the campaign. Taiwan International Leather Association also sponsors leather samples in the campaign, so students can have hands-on experiences. For many students, it is their first chance to use chrome tanned leather, a feature product for the leather industry in Taiwan. Chrome tanned leather’s versatility allows it to accommodate a wide range of ideas and inspirations in student designs.
As part of the tour, advisor Rachel Chang imparts her professional knowledge, teaches leather crafting techniques, and engages with designers/instructors at school. “The competition is just a starting point to put this material in their minds,” says Chang. “We look forward to working closely with design education in the future, so a new generation of designers will choose leather, and work with local industries to offer additional values.
