Olive green will be THE leather shade for autumn 2025
According to British Vogue, olive green is the new black – so get that dirty martini on order, stat!
Creams, browns and maroons have been the fashionistas’ neutral colours of choice for a number of seasons now, but things will look decidedly richer come next season thanks to a slew of verdant tones featuring on the A/W 25 runways. Can we call olive a neutral? The jury’s out, but this juicy shade feels just punchy enough to enliven any basic – yet soft enough to fall in line with most tonal pieces.
Look to Gucci, Bally, Tod’s and Toga for guidance on how to fit olive green into next season’s colour palette – be it tailoring at Tod’s or oversized peacoats at Gucci. When it comes to leather, Bally’s polished pencil skirt was one of the stand out garments of the AW25 shows, while Erdem featured bold leather maxi coats and dresses. Olive green really should be seen when it comes to bags and accessories, too – the likes of Bottega Veneta and Loewe have followed suit with pre-fall launches in varying tones. Read on for our top picks of next season’s olive green lot… Before they sell out, of course.
Loewe’s Puzzle bag has been a fashion insider staple for years, finally having its mainstream moment more recently – so a limited-edition iteration like this one is sure to stand out from the crowd. Made in olive calf skin with suede stripe details, it’s a real beauty.
Make like a Manzanilla and add this boxy leather jacket to your collection, since pop-of-colour outerwear is an easy way to make a statement. And at over half price in the brand’s sale, it’s (almost) a no-brainer.
To own a piece of Bottega Veneta’s famous intrecciato leather is to own a piece of fashion history – and new to the house’s latest collection is the classic Watch Belt reimagined in its ever-popular Cypress shade. If you still prefer to lean towards a neutral colour palette, this is your way in – since Cypress is a soft, slightly muddy olive tone.
Erdem hit a home run by launching its first-ever leather bag in late 2024 – with its statement gold floral handle, the Bloom Bag was an instant hit. For AW25, the brand has launched several accessories and ready-to-wear pieces in this rich green shade; the midi Bloom is the only one currently available, though expect more to launch in the coming months.
