Earlier in the series, I featured the incredible works and careers of Patrick Whitaker and Keir Malem of Whitaker Malem, who have spent their illustrious careers perfecting the leather mould costume and leather sculpture worn by blockbuster Hollywood heroes, heroines and villains of the silver screen’s Troy, Wonder Woman, Captain America and Aquaman.
Returning from the sets of LA, the pair spent lockdown in their outer London country property and workroom where they have been hard at work developing hand crafted leather face masks in their own unique and very special way. Crafted to the highest standards one could expect by the pioneering leather artisans, we now have the limited opportunity of experiencing their Hollywood treatment in purchasing our very own accessibly priced Whitaker Malem piece—one, with daily use assured!
Each mask is made of top grade, sustainably sourced, natural vegetable tanned leather and is individually hand blocked on sculpted formers developed by the duo. Ranging in three finishes:
They all feature satin lingerie straps, gold plated fittings and two 3-layer washable silk, cotton, silk filters. A black fabric panel comes as standard, with the option of a second colour and all pieces are shipped in a sturdy embossed presentation box with a velvet protection storage pouch.
Embedded with a formable metal nose piece between the leather layers, the jaw articulation design and stretch fabric filters have been designed for optimal face adhesion, with a total weight of just 44 grams—it is highly breathable!
The making of each mask averages between 7-10 hours and is reflected by 3 price points £300 / £330 / £390. A full refund (less shipping) is offered to all purchasers to ensure that the wearer is comfortable with the mould, if in perfect return condition!
True to their charm and graciousness in life, Patrick and Whitaker are donating 20% of V.I.P.P.E mask profits to the Shelter Homeless charity! With an initial limited run of 20 production pieces that are quickly finding owners, Patrick and Keir are considering special orders and finishes but I highly suggest interested buyers place orders to avoid disappointment!
