Think Small: OTZI

Think small is where RLSD takes a look at some of the companies around the world that we think are doing the right thing with leather. This is a greenwashing free zone – no matter what they produce, sustainability is at the heart of what they do. This week, British furniture company OTZI.

What makes your company different?

Combining traditional skills and materials with modern technique, OTZI ensures a contemporary approach that adopts the best of the old and the new. Innovations in the use, working and application of leather are central to the workshop’s output.

We create objects with integrity, durability and purpose that are made to age gracefully, as they withstand and reward the rigours of daily use.

Why is leather so important to you and what other materials do you use

Our materials are carefully chosen for their beauty, their functionality, their durability, and the way in which they are produced. They are integral to the story of each piece. We source the finest leather, timber, and linen, prioritising natural materials that are regenerative and sustainable.

What is the signature product?

The Big Sur three-seater arcs elegantly from the back to the arm, with a solid timber frame and hand-laced leather cord providing strength and support. Carefully positioned legs give the piece a light, floating appearance despite its generous scale.

What do Otzi say?

By prioritising high-quality materials, we ensure that each piece not only looks stunning but also performs and ages beautifully.

What does RLSD say?

This is gorgeous high-quality furniture that will only grow more beautiful as it gets older.
