Real Leather. Stay Different. (RLSD) was delighted to visit Thammasat University, Thailand, where we had the pleasure of engaging with students from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts. The session welcomed students from both the Department of Textile and Fashion Design and the Department of Industrial Crafts Design – young creatives full of talent, energy and ambition.
It was incredibly rewarding to witness their enthusiasm for the RLSD campaign and for the leather industry more broadly. The event gave us the opportunity to share the many advantages of working with real leather, with a particular focus on its natural, sustainable qualities.
Unlike synthetic alternatives, leather is a by-product of the food industry – making it both practical and environmentally responsible. It is long-lasting, biodegradable and when processed responsibly, far less damaging than plastic-based alternatives that dominate today’s fashion market.
During the session, we introduced students to the RLSD Thailand 2025 competition – the very first time a local edition of this global initiative is being held in Thailand. More than just a design challenge, RLSD is a platform that allows students to showcase their originality and craftsmanship while stepping into the global spotlight. For many, it could be the beginning of an international design career.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Assistant Professor Prarunrop Prueksopee for attending and supporting the session. Your presence brought valuable perspective and encouragement to the students.
We left Thammasat University truly inspired by the passion and potential of its student designers. We look forward to deepening our collaboration in future. Until then – stay creative, stay bold and stay different.
