Pei Yan Kang of Shih Chien University won the overall prize in this year’s Real Leather. Stay Different. Student Design Competition, co-organised by Leather & Hide Council of America and Taiwanese International Leather Association.
His work, “Gestation”, in the apparel category, contemplated the bodily changes of pregnant women from a unique perspective. It will be exhibited during this year’s London Fashion Week and the International Competition awards ceremony in Milan as part of an RLSD capsule collection showcasing the best international talent. Pei Yan Kang will also have a complimentary stay at The Palace Taipei.
The award ceremony was held on August 25th at AMBI Space One in Taipei, with the runway show providing the ideal arena for entrants to highlight their sustainable leather designs.
The contest has built its reputation among students over the past three years with winners receiving international recognition. This year the contest attracted 350 entries from 14 universities in Taiwan across three categories—apparel, accessories and footwear.
