New York Fashion Week 2020 Recap: our top five exceptional moments that astonished the big apple

From pink rock bands to up-and-coming brands, NYFW really pulled out all the stops this AW season. As we’ve done for the rest of the fashion weeks, we’ve complied our favourite shows and moments that really encapsulated the charismatic and unpredictable world of global fashion.

COACH 1941

Creative Director Stuart Vevers had taken inspiration from the hip 80s New York style for his incredibly chic show for Coach. With a live band accompaniment, the models strutted down the catwalk wearing an abundance of beautiful distinctive patterns, oversized trench coats and, our favourite feature of course, a great deal of leather visible especially on contemporary culottes and midi skirts. Check out the full show here.

MARC JACOBS

It’s safe to say we can always put our faith in Marc Jacobs to deliver an erratic collection that recharges our faith in fashion. This show was delivered by 50 contemporary dancers performing around the 88 models, bringing together Chaos + Form (which, coincidentally, was also the name of the show). Our favourite has to be this dashing outfit worn by the one and only Miley Cyrus – we’d give anything for those elbow length leather gloves!

CHRISTOPHER JOHN ROGERS

A recent graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Christopher John Rogers dived straight into fame with his bold and extraordinary fashion designs. His AW20 collection was certainly eye catching, with flamboyant neon colours, high heels, and beautiful voluminous dresses. You wont want to miss this beautiful spectacle – watch the full show here!

LONGCHAMP

Longchamp’s bougie collection was full of ’70s references redesigned for the modern Parisian woman, with a splendid array of rich colours and textures. Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine clearly shares our love for leather as she repeatedly showed off the gorgeous new AW20 double buckle leather belt. NIKE

Kicking off the week was a show that featured sporting champions old and new, as well as a few up-and-coming competitors (namely 11-year-old skateboarder Sky Brown heading to the Olympics this year) donning the new range of their iconic trainers. The show concluded with an emotional tribute to NBA star Kobe Bryant when a number of children came on stage wearing the late basketball player’s retired Lakers’ jerseys. Catch a glimpse of the adorable yet heartbreaking moment here.
