London Fashion: Street Seen
In this month's Street Seen, Meet Otto, an aspiring photographer from North London!
Spring. The season of freshness, of newness, of rebirth and recalibration. This spring more than ever we’re in need of a boost, and often that comes in the form of a new wardrobe addition. But we’re also more focused on durability and practicality than before – perhaps we don’t need that seventh black dress, or yet another pair of sneakers…
So we’ve put together a selection of our favourite spring bags, categorised by trend so you can navigate the styles you don’t already own. Even if you aren’t drawn to the specific bags we’ve pulled out, hopefully they will provide inspiration for a version that works best for your personality, style and budget.
OVERSIZED LEATHER TOTES
The bag that fits everything and goes with everything. You may have a dozen canvas totes lying around, but an investment leather shoulder bag that can take all weathers, occasions and contents, is the one you’ll have for years to come.

STRUCTURED SHAPES
A statement piece that adds lines to any outfit, a structured bag can draw attention for all the right reasons. Whether you prefer geometric or circular shapes, the colour, texture and material can make an even bigger impact.

MARKET BAGS
Full marks on practicality, market bags aren’t new. But global brands have taken notice this season, producing their own, luxury versions of the dollar-store ones you might have at home. They might not be appropriate for groceries, but they’ll certainly work for spring/summer looks, especially on sunny days where heavy materials will only weigh you down.

MICRO BAGS
Famously worn by Lizzo in 2019, the micro bag trend has captured the imaginations of designers across the world, all making their own teeny tinies. Perhaps slightly lower on the practicality scale, but high on the ‘I don’t care because they’re super cute’ scale, these accessories punch well above their weight when it comes to style points.

CROSS-BODY POUCH
Like the micro bags, these won’t hold the essential phone/wallet/keys/makeup/mirror/snacks, but they will be literal water-carriers for those warmer days. Best for cross body, or even as a bag within a bag, these bottle holders and pouches are a chic and easy way to help you keep hydrated while being bang on trend.
