Four key leather accessories we’ll all be wearing for AW25, straight from the runways

If you’re going to invest in any trend pieces for the coming season, choose one of these key leather accessories from the autumn/winter ‘25 runways. After all, fashion’s recent history has taught us that the devil is in the detail – particularly with a return to highly-accessorised aesthetics such as eclectic bohemia and the Y2K resurgence. Even the enduring (and very minimal) ‘clean girl’ look relies on a cluster of go-to outfit add-ons.
Keeping an eye on breakout accessories trends is often the ideal way to take or leave what you want from the ever-changing fashion cycle – each allows a dip-your-toe approach, without over-committing. Happily, this season’s crop of leather accessories trends offers plenty of range, be it your new staple handbag or the outfit-transforming belt you never knew you needed.
For autumn/winter ‘25, we’ve spotted four key leather accessories to consider this season, straight from the runways.
The suede bag
Prada Bonnie medium suede handbag
Suede for autumn is becoming almost as predictable as florals for spring – but the velvety fabric is going nowhere anytime soon. Chocolate brown is still the shade of choice, as demonstrated at Prada, Ralph Lauren and Fendi, while roomy styles continue to dominate. Head to any high street and you’ll find the B.B.B. (Big Brown Bag) is everywhere – look to the likes of Cos and Massimo Dutti for ready-to-wear examples.
The statement belt
Schiaparelli
The humble leather belt is kind of a big deal this season – with outfit-changing styles studded throughout the collections. Notably, they were layered up en masse at Schiaparelli, oversized at Gucci and knotted at Louis Vuitton. And while the peplum belt made a return at Givenchy, chunky hip-huggers were seen on a number of models at Chloé, too.
Rivalling the still-popular baseball cap while simultaneously conjuring up plenty of millennial panic thanks to its Y2K connotations, the baker boy cap is back! Also known as the newsboy, the jaunty headwear has made a return via select runway appearances and street style choices – most recently, the Princess of Wales even gave the classic style her seal of approval.
I’ve spotted this very cool vintage Miu Miu newsboy over on eBay – while Ukrainian designer Ruslan Baginskiy is leading the pack with more structured styles. Expect the high street to cotton on soon.
The leather gloves
Michael Kors autumn winter 2025
I’ve already waxed lyrical about this season’s opera glove trend, but I couldn’t realistically summarise AW25’s biggest accessory trends without including them. Look to Khaite, Michael Kors and Bronx and Banco for prime examples. In fact, it wasn’t only full-length gloves that stole the show – at Max Mara, it was midi leather gloves that reached the mid forearm, while Ulla Johnson followed suit with a similar silhouette, with crystal embellishments.
