RLSD THAILAND STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION LAUNCH

RLSD Design Competition launches in Thailand for 2025.

For the first time, the Real Leather. Stay Different. Student Design Competition is launching in Thailand. Following the success of the competitions in Asia in the China and Taiwan Regions, and internationally,  we are on the hunt for the best new Thai talent to harness the beauty and celebrate the sustainability of natural leather.

Known for its exceptional artisanship and vibrant design culture, Thailand is set to offer innovative interpretations merging traditional artistry with modern fashion and accessory design. We at RLSD are thrilled to expand our search for young designers inspired by leather’s versatility, and delighted by the opportunity to further foster creativity in sustainable design practice.

The RLSD Design Competition calls on participants to work with natural, biodegradable materials with at least 50% leather making up their designs. This reflects the core values of Thailand’s creative community, where conscious craftsmanship and resourcefulness are deeply ingrained. The competition aims to challenge students to think beyond fast fashion, highlighting the durability and timelessness of leather as a material of choice for slow, sustainable design.

By engaging students from leading design institutions across the country, the competition seeks to build a platform where leather lovers, innovators, and sustainability advocates can collaborate and inspire one another. Judges will consist of established designers, industry experts and leading voices in Thai fashion. The competition will not only celebrate exceptional talent, it will also nurture the growth of responsible design practices.

At RLSD we aim to make a lasting, positive impact by fostering creativity, promoting sustainability and offering an international showcase for young designers. As we expand into Thailand, we are excited to see how our students shape the future of leather design.
