Celebrity couples: The Power 5

The Power 5: Our top celebrity couples that have kept us motivated to find the one

It’s safe to say we’ve had a few famous couples that have inspired us all on our own paths to true love. Where would we be without Jay-Z & Beyoncé? What would’ve happened if Kimye never happened? As Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, we thought we’d share with you our five favourite dynamic duos of all time that have captured our hearts through the media, on camera and even our Twitter feeds.

Barack & Michelle Obama

Married for over 25 years, the former POTUS and FLOTUS are up there as one of the most admired couples to enter the White House. Obama has often reminded us that Michelle’s support really was what he needed to keep going during his time in the Oval Office. As he said to Oprah, “I couldn’t have done anything that I’ve done without Michelle. Not only has she been a great first lady, she is just my rock.” – how adorable!

David & Victoria Beckham

Married for 20 years, the romance of Posh & Becks will go down as one of the most famed celebrity relationships in British history. The former footballer and ex-Spice Girl have always been known for showing up to significant events in matching outfits (like their couple goals aren’t complete already). Naturally, we love the leather outfits they rocked at the ‘Versace Club’ gala party in London way back in 1999.

Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi

It’s only fitting that multi award-winning comedian Ellen DeGeneres has someone that makes her laugh too (her words, not ours). Apparently, it took Australian actress and model Portia de Rossi three whole years to pluck up the courage and tell DeGeneres how she felt about her. Having been together several years before they tied the knot, they planned their wedding very quickly with Ellen announcing their engagement in 2008 just three and a half months before the big day which is, coincidentally, our favourite ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ moment.

Edward Lewis & Vivian Ward, Pretty Woman (1990)

Arguably one of the best romantic comedies to hit early-90s cinemas, we couldn’t leave the Evian & Vivan love story out of this list. This film launched the career of Julia Roberts, which comes to no surprise when you find out it grossed just under half a billion dollars worldwide! Even after 30 years, Roberts and lead actor Richard Gere are still great friends to this day. Roberts reportedly ‘begged’ Gere to be the star in this academy-award nominated movie – proof that persistency works, folks!

Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher

Having worked together in ‘That 70s Show’, Kutcher & Kunis started dating at the start of 2012. Although they don’t like to spill the beans on their ongoing relationship, we know for sure that they look adorable together as a couple. Need proof? Just take a look at them here exploring London – those leather pants though!
